Private family services will be held for Ann McHam Kent, 90, of Lufkin. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston.

          Mrs. Kent was born January 5, 1927 in Brownwood, Texas, to the late Fred Maddox McHam and Annie Walker McHam, and died Monday, December 11, 2017 in a local nursing facility.

          She was raised in Paris, Texas, where she later attended Paris Junior College. Mrs. Kent married Jack R. Kent on December 24, 1948 and they lived in Olustee, Ok, Snyder, TX, Midland, TX and Houston, TX, before moving to Lufkin in 1994. While in Midland and Houston, she was a court clerk in the United States Federal Courts. In Lufkin, Mrs. Kent enjoyed gardening and traveling with several local travel clubs. She was previously a member of Baptist and Methodist churches and most recently was a member of the Timberland Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Lufkin.

          Mrs. Kent is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Silvia Kent of Lufkin; granddaughter, Allison Kent; brothers-in-law, Terry Kent and Gene Kent; sisters-in-law, Jane McHam and Elizabeth McHam; nieces, Kari Baser, Evette Gentry, and Carla Goldsmith; and by her aunt-by-marriage, Tommy Smith.

          She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Kent; brothers, Fred McHam and Charles McHam; and by her life-long best friend, Joyce Corder.

          Special appreciation by the family is offered for the attentive care provided by the staffs of the Pine Crest Retirement Center and to The Hospice of the Pines.

          Memorials may be directed to the Winnie Berry Humane Society, 1102 N. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
