Funeral services for Elvis L. Grimes, 78, of Pollok, will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Robert Forrest officiating. Interment will follow at Gann Cemetery.

          Mr. Grimes was born June 14, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Rayburn Frank Grimes and Alma Dell Sallas Grimes, and died Monday, September 11, 2017 in Lufkin.

          He loved to hunt, fish, gardening, and working in his yard. Mr. Grimes loved to R.V. and camp, especially in the mountains. He also enjoyed visiting with his family and friends.

          Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife, Peggy Grimes of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Rayburn “Tommy” and Renee Grimes of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Tami Grimes of Pollok; grandson and wife, Joshua Tell and Haley Grimes of Fredericksburg, VA; granddaughter and husband, Tonja Grimes and Wade Jabbour of Lufkin; granddaughter, Kaylie Grimes of Pollok; granddaughter and husband, Kristena and Anthony Saliers of Grand Rapids, MI; great-grandsons, Kaleb Owens, Kade Grimes, and Anthony Jabbour, all of Lufkin; great-grandson, Cole Grimes of Fredericksburg, VA; great-granddaughter, Madison Grimes of Fredericksburg, VA; great-granddaughter, Anna Jabbour of Lufkin; great-granddaughters, Rylee Saliers and Erin Saliers of Grand Rapids, MI; step-grandsons, David Crisco and Robert Rodriquez; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Sue Grimes of Cedar Park; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Grimes of Lufkin.

          He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayburn and Alma Grimes; and brother, Frank Grimes.

          Pallbearers will be Paul Hope, Wade Jabbour, David Grimes, Stewart Flurry, Randy Colbert, and Kaleb Owens.

          Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Colbert, Reggy Flurry, Jay Jackson, Charles Thigpen, Allen Cates, Bobby Colbert, Steve Edwards, and Bucky McDaniel.

          Memorials may be made to O’Quinn Baptist Church, 7433 N US Highway 69, Pollok, TX 75969.

          Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home.
