Graveside services for Ferry “Ray” Palmer, 77, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, October 2, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Nogalus Prairie with Pastor Gene Hazell officiating.
He was born July 19, 1940 in Lone Oak, Texas, the son of the late Ferry B. Palmer and Ethel Edwards Palmer, and died Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Lufkin.
Mr. Palmer attended Abilene Christian University and then went on to join the Airforce, serving 4 years. He loved his kids and grandchildren so much. Mr. Palmer loved to pick on you, when he liked you, and always enjoyed playing a good hand of dominos. He was one of a kind, made tougher than most, and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Palmer is survived by his son David Palmer of Garland, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Tammy Palmer of Garland, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Tammy Palmer of Linden, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Barbie and David Driskell of Huntington, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Chris Morgan of Huntington, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Wayne Pierce of Lufkin; along with 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, LeRoy Mercer of Alba, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rebecca York Palmer; and 2 brothers and a sister.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Robert, Cameron Palmer, Christopher Palmer, Samuel Palmer, Justin Pierce, and all of his Domino Buddies.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
