Jerry Green, 72, of Lufkin, was born August 13, 1945 in Meridian, Mississippi, the son of the late D’Ellis Green and Angela Smith Green, and died Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Lufkin.

          He drove the VA bus from Lufkin to Houston 5 times a week for many years. Mr. Green was the Lufkin High School Auto Tech Teacher in the 1970’s and 1980’s. He served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Green was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and attended the Jolly Senior Sunday School Class.

          Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Beverly Green of Lufkin; son, Dennis Green of Springfield, MO; daughter, Angela Cross of Huntington; step-son, Paul Strait of Lufkin; step-daughter and husband, Paula and Steve Waldron of Lufkin; grandchildren, Shane and Colby Greenville, Hannah and Jennah Mathis, and Steven Cross; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Wesson Evett, and Branton Waldrep; and brother, D’Ellis Green of Summerfield, SC.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
