Funeral services for Larry Gonzalez, 49, of Huntington, will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Deacon Jesus Reyes officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery.

          Mr. Gonzalez was born June 13, 1968 in South Bend, Indiana, the son of the late Lamberto Gonzalez and Elia Rodriguez Gonzalez, and died Friday, September 1, 2017 in Lufkin.

He loved to bowl and was the #1 Steelers’ football fan.

          Mr. Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Penny Gonzalez of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Shane Holster of Huntington; son, William Calhoun of Huntington; grandson, Chase Calhoun of Huntington; granddaughter, Harlie Holster of Huntington; sister, Linda Maria Gonzalez of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia Gonzalez Rodriguez and Mario Vazquez of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Hilda G. and Timothy Risby of Pollok; nephew, John Alan Flannery of Lufkin; nephew, Nicholas Roman; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Gilberto Gonzalez.

          Pallbearers will be Marty Spies, William Chunn, Michael Sneigoski, Marcelo Rosario, John Alan Flannery, and Nicholas Roman.

          Honorary Pallbearers will be Timothy Risby, Robert Brumble, Julian Garcia, Stephen Rosario, and Mario Vazquez.

          Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited following the visitation.

          Family and friends are welcomed to Sylvia’s Restaurant (on Hwy 69 North in Pollok) for food and fellowship, immediately following the graveside committal.
