Funeral services for Preston Westbrook, 86, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, December 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Bro. Blackie Cranford and Bro. Steve Cowart officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Westbrook was born May 27, 1931 in Magnolia Springs, Texas, the son of the late William Westbrook and Madeline McLoud Westbrook, and died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Nacogdoches.
He loved to wood work and make toys for his grandchildren. Mr. Westbrook loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He retired from Lufkin Industries, after many years of service, and was a retired Baptist Minister. Mr. Westbrook was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Lufkin Industries bowling team, where they won several tournaments.
Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bettie Westbrook of Lufkin; daughter, LaQuita Biggs of KY; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Patrick Richards of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and W.C. Scroggins of Lufkin; son, Tim Scogin of Calhan, CO; grandchildren, Brandi, Jodi, Reilly, Brad, Josh, Kim, Lia and Cali; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Carolyn Westbrook of Tyler.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nelda Hyatt; and sons-in-law, Phillip H. Campbell and Johnny Garrett.
Pallbearers will be David Kirkland, Patrick Richards, Bruce Brumley, Tim Scogin, Reilly Garrett, and Brad Reid.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
