Funeral services for Valerie Kay James, 55, of Corrigan, will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in Lufkin with Col. Tracy J. Roberts, the pastor of prosperity, Rev. Kenith Jackson and Bro. Matt Massey officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

          Ms. James was born February 13, 1962 in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Robert Roberts Jr. and Karen Olsen Roberts and died Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Lufkin.

          She loved music, played the piano and the organ, and had the most beautiful alto voice. Ms. James was a graduate of Corrigan High School and participated in many community theater and college theater productions. Above all, she loved her family and wanted what was best for her kids. Ms. James passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children.

          Ms. James is survived by her daughter, Jessica James of Corrigan; step-daughter, Catherine James of Lufkin; son, Wade James of Corrigan; son, Zachary James of Shenandoah, IA; son, Caleb James of Omaha, NE; son, Nicholas Waters of Huntsville; son, Logan Roberts of Shenandoah, IA; grandson, David Thompson; granddaughter, Laela Thompson; granddaughter, Ariel Coodey; granddaughter, Keira Coodey; grandson, Gavin Coodey; granddaughter, Piper James; step grandson, Christian Pagen; step grandson, Drake Uribes; step grandson, Robert Uribes; step grandson, Sora Uribes; mother, Karen Olsen Roberts of Ogden, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Robbie and Kara Roberts of Ogden, UT; brother, Dale Roberts of Ogden, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Col. Tracy and LaVieve Roberts of Santaquin, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Trichelle Roberts of West Jordan, UT; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Kayla Roberts of Liberty, TX; along with numerous other relatives.

          She was preceded in death by her two little girls, Vanessa Claire and Grace Ann; father, Bob Roberts; sister, Jeanne Roberts; and husband, David Glenn James.

          Pallbearers will be Col. Tracy Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Eric Roberts, Zachary James, Caleb James, Logan Roberts, David Thompson, and Jeremy Gonzalez.

          Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Roberts, Dale Roberts and Gavin Coodey.

          Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, prior to the funeral service.

          The family is asking in remembrance of Ms. James, for all in attendance on Wednesday, to please wear purple, her favorite color.
