Woodrow Thompson “Woody” Fail III, 60, of Newton, was born October 11, 1957 in Chattareaux, France, the son of Col. Woodrow Thompson Fail II and Carmen Villarreal Mashburn, and died Monday, December 18, 2017 in Lufkin.

          Mr. Fail loved to play pool, and loved his family.

          He is survived by his wife, Lynn Shofner of Newton; and sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Toran Hostbjor of Lafayette, LA; father and wife, Col. Woodrow Thompson Fail II and Kathy of Conroe; and brother, Robert Mashburn.

          Mr. Fail is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Mashburn; step-father, Mark Mashburn; and son, Christopher Logan Fail.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
