Memorial services for Bette Anne Agers, 65, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Dwayne Thornton officiating. Visitation will follow the memorial service from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Agers was born August 22, 1953 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of James Henry Field and Mildred Eloise Richardson, and died Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Houston.
She was a hospice nurse for more than 20 years, providing comfort and counsel, helping people improve their quality of life and reconcile with death, and bearing all the heartbreaking burdens of her calling. Those who knew and loved her know that in the end, it was for the best, she is no longer hurting, and she doesn’t have to fight anymore.
Mrs. Agers is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Shelby Dias and husband, Michael; Jennifer Whittlesey and husband, Dwayne; sons, Richard Agers and Justin Agers; Grandchildren, Ashley Capps, Tanner Dias, Braden Capps and wife Becca; Tailer Dias, Casen Capps, Logan Whittlesey, Devin Capps, Ethan Agers, Jamisen Whittlesey, Chloe Agers, Eli Agers; Great grandchildren, Zoey Sessions, Avery Dias, Nala Capps; sister, Bonnie Field; brother, Bob Field and wife Karen; brother-in-law, Gary Portell; sister-in-law, Carol Skrabacz and husband, Ed; sister-in-law, Susan Johnston and husband, Lee; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Agers; she is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Eloise Field; sister, Beckie Portell and niece Erin Ilari.
