Carol (Phelps) Kirtley

          Memorial services for Carol (Phelps) Kirtley, 69, of Lufkin, will be held at a later date.

          Ms. Kirtley was born January 28, 1950, in Jasper, Texas, the daughter of E. O. Phelps and Rosalee (Ferguson) Phelps, and died Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Lufkin.

          Ms. Kirtley worked as a nurse and previous owner of Kirtley Ornamental Concrete business. She loved to read and spend time at the beach. Ms. Kirtley loved her children and grandchildren.

          She is survived by her son, Stevie Dixon Jr. of Lufkin; daughter, Dena Dixon of Lufkin; granddaughter, Alexis Dixon of Tyler; grandson, Clayton Lane Vanleuven of Lufkin; grandson, Ryland Vanleuven of Lufkin; father of her children, Steve Dixon of Lufkin; sister, Sandi Garner of Lufkin; niece, Candice Arnold; niece, Josie Smith of Lufkin; special friend, Andrea Garner of Lufkin; along with special cousin Tom Sturdivan and family of Lufkin.

          Ms. Kirtley was preceded in death by her parents; Master Sgt. E.O. Phelps and Rosalee Phelps.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
