Connie J. Smith

           Graveside services for Connie J. Smith, 85, of Hudson, will be held Friday, July 5, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Burketown Cemetery in Trinity County with Bro. Kenneth Mayo officiating.

          Mrs. Smith was born September 15, 1933 in Deer Park, Alabama, the daughter of the late Frank S. Odom and Annie Laura (Landrum) Odom, and died Monday, July 1, 2019 in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Smith was of the Methodist faith.  She loved working in her flower garden and was a wonderful cook.  Mrs. Smith also loved her cats, like her children.  One of her favorite past times was Quilting.

          She is survived by her son, Marty Smith of Lufkin; grandson, Efren Leobardo Salazar of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Vesta and James L. Schilthuis of Denver, CO; sister, Eunice Dozier of Nashville, TN; brother, Wayne Odom of Birmingham, AL; brother, James Odom of Athens, TX; and sisters-in-law, Sue Odom of Deer Park, AL and Suzanne Odom of Yorba Linda, CA.

          Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, John F. Smith; and brothers, Tony Odom and Del Odom.

          Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

          Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the graveside service.
