D.L. Wallace Obituary

          Memorial services for D.L. Wallace, 64, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Richard Joseph officiating.

          Mr. Wallace was born January 23, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late Walter Alonzo Wallace and Mildred Elizabeth Hicks, and died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his residence.

          Mr. Wallace served in the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corp from 1971 to 1975, and spent time stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He loved working his day job, as well as working around the house. Mr. Wallace enjoyed watching wrestling and listening to music. He loved his family and grandchildren.

          He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sheila Joyce (Vrazel) Wallace of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Toyann Wallace and Chris Musick of Lufkin; stepson and wife, Roy Edward Marshall Sr. and Becca Holly of Lufkin; adopted mother, Celia Dillion of Clewiston FL; sister, and brother-in-law, Loretta and Gene Grizzle of Houston; brother-in-law and wife, Donald Edward and Dottie Vrazel; sister-in-law, Sharon Adams of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Candice Marie Marshall Caleb Duck of Mt. Pleasant; grandson, Roy Edward Marshall Jr. of Broaddus; great-daughter, Kendall Rose Duck; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family member.

          Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Walter Alonzo Wallace; mother, Mildred Elizabeth Hicks; brother, Walter Ray Wallace; sisters, Alta Middaugh and Rhonda Ruegenia Gardner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward (Sonny) Frank Vrazel and Jackie (Sowell) Vrazel; and sisters-in-law, Connie Dianne Vrazel and Kimberly Smith.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
