Edd Terrill III

          Funeral services for Edd Terrill III, 72, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Steve Cowart officiating. Interment will follow at Narrow Way Cemetery.

          Mr. Terrill was born March 3, 1947 in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of the late Edd Terrill Jr. and Martha (Keaton) Terrill, and died Sunday, March 3, 2019 in Lufkin.

          Mr. Terrill was chief of the security department for Memorial Hospital in Lufkin for over 40 years and served on the board of trustees there for over 20 years. He owned and operated Security Services of Lufkin, Inc. until retirement in 2014. Mr. Terrill loved hunting and in his younger years enjoyed his time spent in Missouri. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Crystal Beach Bums. Mr. Terrill was a Christian man and a straight shooter. He was a big supporter of the Naranjo Museum of Natural History in Lufkin, and was very involved in his community, giving his assistance and energy.

          Mr. Terrill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rita Terrill of Lufkin; son, Eddie Terrill IV; daughter and son-in-law, Tressa and Eddie Harper of Nacogdoches; son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Dale and Melanie Terrill of Ft. Bragg, NC; daughter, Megan Terrill of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chasity Terrill, Ashley Tapia, Aaron Sockwell, Mercedes Winn, Augustus Montgomery James Terrill and Cody Terrill; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Roby Terrill; sister and brother-in-law, Theta and Ron Davis of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Emily and Jimmy Childers of Lufkin; mother-in-law, Ruth Thomas of Lufkin; brother-in-law and wife, Alan and Cynthia Thomas of Lufkin; brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Cheryl Thomas of Hawkins, TX; brother-in-law, Bruce Lumbley of Lufkin; along with numerous nieces, and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Chase Terrill; father-in-law, Preston Thomas; and sister-in-law, Peggy Lumbley.

          Pallbearers will be Jack Sanderlin, Charlie Grumbles, David Henson, Tim Scallon, Tom Carrington, and Mack Frazier.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Hadnot, Carl Patton, Scott Davis, John Lodini, Danny Read, Clifton Foster, and the Crystal Beach Bums.

          Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
