Gordon W. Getro

          Memorial services for Gordon W. Getro, 65, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Bobby Oberlechner officiating.

          Mr. Getro was born July 14, 1953, in Lufkin, Texas, and died Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in Lufkin.

          Mr. Getro loved to camp and fish. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his garden. Mr. Getro loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was an avid T.V. watcher and especially loved watching westerns, classics, and Disney movies.

          He is survived by his wife, Virginia Getro of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Donnie Neal of Lufkin; son, Bryan Calhoun of Wetumpka, AL; son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Kim Getro of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Scott Beck of Bullard; granddaughter, Destiny Burns of Bullard; granddaughter and husband, Skylar and Michael Floyd of Kentucky; granddaughter, Kayla Neal of Lufkin; grandson, Taylor Getro of Lufkin; grandson, Will Burns of Bullard; granddaughter, Kassidy Amerson of Hudson; grandson, Sean Amerson of Hudson; grandson, Kash Getro of Hudson; granddaughter, Abigail Calhoun of Alabama; great-granddaughter, Ava Maria Floyd of Kentucky; brother, Larry Bizzell of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, James and Lynn Getro of Lufkin; sister-in-law Tommie Nash of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Ann Hawkins of Lufkin; sister-in-law and husband, Alice and Walter Berry of Lufkin; sister-in-law and husband, Nola and Ed Irvin of Alaska; sister-in-law, Phyllis Lambert of Zavalla; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

          Mr. Getro was preceded in death by his parents, C.F. Getro and Shirley (Williford) Getro; brother, B.J. Bizzell; grandson, Derek Neal; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Lambert and James Lambert.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
