Louis J. Torres

          Funeral services for Louis J. Torres, 69, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Fr. Joe Kannampuzha officiating.

          Mr. Torres was born November 8, 1949 in Littlefield, Texas, the son of Pablo Jaramillo Torres and Simona (Collins) Torres, and died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at his residence.

          Mr. Torres was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lufkin and worked as a carpenter and painter at the Pinecrest Retirement Community. He had a love for hunting and fishing and loved to garden. Mr. Torres also loved the Dallas Cowboys and playing bingo. He was very social and loved people.

          Mr. Torres is survived by his wife, Ann Torres of Lufkin; son, Larry Torres of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and April Torres of Lufkin; daughter, Elizabeth Cole of Huntington; granddaughters, Madison Torres and Lillian Torres, both of Lufkin and Kaylie Cole and Harley Cole of Huntington; brothers, Pablo Jr., Daniel, Tony, Jimmy, Michael, Johnny, and Henry; and sister and brother-in-law, Belinda and Richard Yount.

          He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ty Torres; brother, Ruben Torres; mother-in-law, Frances Walker; and father-in-law, Frank Walker.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Torres, Henry Torres, John Guerrero, Taylor McKewen, George Charanza, Johnny Turner, Heath Foust, Dustin Stanley, and James Childress.

          Special memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

          Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
