Maria Vera

         Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Galaviz Vera, 79, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the Shafer Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Fr. Luis Fernando Arrogave officiating. A second funeral service will then follow at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Maria Anzaldua officiating. Interment will follow the second service at the Union Springs Cemetery.

          Ms. Vera was born June 28, 1938 in Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico, the daughter of the late Adolfo Galaviz and Ma Luisa Vargas, and died Friday, April 6, 2018 at her residence.

          She was a happy person, whom loved traveling and taking care of her flower gardens. Ms. Vera was a very strong and independent lady. She loved her family very much.

          Mr. Vera is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eduardo and Audencia; son and daughter-in-law, Santos and Irene; son and daughter-in-law, Ruben and Sonia; son and daughter-in-law, Gustavo and Irma; daughter, Luisa; son, Alvaro; son and daughter-in-law, Cuco and Sandra; daughter and son-in-law, Belen and Francisco; 30 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

          She was preceded in death by her parents.

          Pallbearers will be Eduardo Vera, Santos Vera, Alvaro Santoyo, Gustavo Reyes, Ruben Avila, and Cuco Santoyo.

          Honorary pallbearer will be Alba Alverez.

          Special memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 Frank St., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

          Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
