Funeral services for Mary "Granny" Burns, 70, of Huntington, will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 2:30 pm at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Brother Keith Stanley officiating. Interment will follow at the Huntington Cemetery.
Mrs. Burns was born September 4, 1948 in Norristown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Dallas Edmund Teaford and Ann (Kirkpatrick) Teaford, and died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at her residence in Lufkin, Texas.
Mary loved her family very much, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed playing cards and dice with her daughter, granddaughter, and niece. She would spend her days watching game shows and Little House on the Prairie. In her younger years she was very social and was a joy to be around. When she was able to work she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her coworkers before she retired. She was of the Catholic faith. She loved football and was a rare Eagles fan in a sea of Cowboys fans (but we never held that against her).
She is survived by her son, Stephen Burns and wife Meghan of Cuero; son, Richard Burns of Huntington; and daughter and son-in-law Susan and Gary Noel of Lufkin; Grandchildren, Chris Whittemore, Stephen Burns Jr, Ashley Burns, Kati Noel Jacobo, Megan Dial, AJ Noel, Jordyn Smith, Dalton Ottey, Skylar Burns, Colton Burns, Kenedee Burns, Preslee Burns and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alan Teaford, Patricia Teaford, Jimmy Teaford, and Holly Maldonado; step-mother, Ginny Teaford; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Ann Teaford; husband, Richard E. Burns Sr.; and granddaughter, Stephanie Burns.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Burns Jr., AJ Noel, Colton Burns, Brandon Wells, Daniel Jacobo, and Adam Harvey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Whittemore, Dalton Ottey and Wes Lakey.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
