Funeral services for Minnie Louise Howell, 55, of Houston, will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Brother Tom McClelland officiating. Interment will follow at the Fielder Cemetery.

          She was born June 27, 1961 in Gulf Port, MS, the daughter of the late Lonnie L. Dennis and Mary Elizabeth Allen, and died Sunday, April 23, 2017 in Vidor.

          Minnie Howell loved to rescue animals and that was her life.

          She is survived by husband of 19 years, Gary Howell of Houston; daughter, Christina Elizabeth Bloedel of Lubbock; daughter, Wendy Ann Blanks of Montana; step daughter, Elena Marie Howell of Ruston, LA; grandson, Nathaniel L. Bloedel of Lubbock, granddaughter, Amber Bloedel of Lubbock; grandson, Gabriel Garcia of Lubbock; grandson, Damon Conrad Bokholdt of Ruston, LA; grandson, Luis Antonio Vargas III of Ruston, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Joe Havard of Lufkin;  sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Ramiro Garza of Porter; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Wanda Dennis of Lufkin; sister, Janice Freeman of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Tom McClelland of Sulphur, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Tim Wheeler of Splendora; and brother, Edward Dain of Splendora; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

          Minnie Howell was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie L. Dennis and Mary Elizabeth Allen.

          Pallbearers will be Minnie’s brothers and sisters.

          Special memorials may be made to the Winnie Berry Humane Society of Angelina County Pet Adoption Center, 1102 N John Redditt Dr, Lufkin, TX 75904

          Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, before the funeral service.
