Graveside services for Patricia Shockley, 74, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at Whitehouse Cemetery (500 Whitehouse Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901) with Dr. Mike Ayers officiating.

          She was born December 31, 1942 in Ft. Bliss (El Paso), Texas, the daughter of the late Roy Russell Smith and Margaret Josephine Watson Smith, and died Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Shockley was a World War II and Holocaust Oral historian, as well as an avid gardener and water color artist. She loved to travel the world, shop, and eat at the Hard Rock Café. Mrs. Shockley was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lufkin, and attended the Crossroads Sunday school class. She loved her Dutch heritage, tulips, Holland, the color blue, and especially had love for the U.S. Veterans and the Jewish people.

          She is survived by her husband of 50 years and 8 months, Mike Shockley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Paul R. and Jill Shockley of Stafford, TX; grandsons, Schaeffer Wesley Shockley, Spencer Paul Shockley, and Seth Michael Shockley, and granddaughter, Julianna Grace Shockley, all of Stafford, TX; and best friend, Susie Shockley of Lufkin.

          Mrs. Shockley is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Michael and Jimmy Shockley; and daughter, Micheal Shockley.

          Pallbearers will be Schaeffer Shockley, Spencer Shockley, Seth Shockley, Stephen Shockley, Frank Shockley, and Ed Story.

          Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the graveside service.

          A light reception will follow the graveside service at the First United Methodist Church Youth and Worship Center Building (805 E. Denman Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75901).
