Memorial services for Preston Lee Gilley, 53, of Hudson, will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Newton officiating.

          Mr. Gilley was born August 5, 1964 in Houma, Louisiana, to Cleveland H. Gilley and Mary Jane (Elledge) Cessna, and died Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Lufkin.

          Mr. Gilley graduated from James Taylor High School in Katy, Texas in 1983, where he lettered in golf. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. Mr. Gilley was a beloved caregiver to his family when they needed help. He was a loyal Houston Texan fan and attended all home games.  Mr. Gilley was a member of First Baptist Church in Lufkin, and attended the Singles Sunday school class.

          He is survived by his mother, Mary Cessna of Hudson; sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Kevin Hall of Dallas; nephew, William Preston Hall of Dallas; aunt and uncle, Martha and Ernie Iverson of Hudson; and aunt, Lyn Elledge of Hudson.

          Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his father, Cleveland H. Gilley; and his aunt, Joan Elledge.

          Special memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Lufkin, Building Fund, 106 East Bremond, Lufkin TX 75901.

          The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Dixon and staff, as well as to the nurses at CHI St. Luke’s Memorial Health, ICU, Room 20.
