Funeral services for Robert E. Lee, 63, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Roberts and Bro. Jacob Fitzgerald officiating.  Interment will follow at Gann Cemetery.

       Mr. Lee was born August 10, 1954 and entered Heaven on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.  He joyfully met his Lord and Savior, and was reunited with his beloved, grandmother, Ma.

       Robert taught at Slack Elementary School.  He was an exemplary Science teacher.  His co-workers and students loved him. During that time, he also worked as a summer Park Ranger.  Later, he taught computer classes at Angelina College.  As a young man working as a radio DJ, he met Nancy.  That God ordained meeting turned into a lifelong love affair full of many adventures. 

       Robert lived life to the fullest.  He loved everything about nature, especially gardening.  He loved animals, especially his dog Sniglet.  He loved to travel and was able to enjoy trips to other countries. Most importantly, Robert loved God. He loved God's Word and lived his life according to Biblical principles.

       In the days ahead, please pray for his precious wife of 40 years, Nancy Lee of Lufkin; and the other survivors, including his sister and best friend, Melinda and her husband Greg Alexander of Lufkin; beloved niece Jennifer Lee Smith of Frisco; brother Jasper of Lufkin; and a host of cousins and friends.

       Pallbearers will be Trubon Lee, Larry Dixon, James Lumpkin, Robert Arrington, Terry Johnson, and Bruce Runnels.

       Honorary pallbearers are his former coworkers at Slack Elementary.

       The Family wishes to thank Dr. Warren Lichliter, whom he loved. He is the surgeon that saved Robert’s life and helped manage his Crohn’s Disease for over two decades.  Dr. Terry Wells who diligently assisted his health care needs.  The “Open Hands” Sunday School Class of Denman Avenue Baptist Church for their generous and gracious support, and Buford Abeldt for his genuine concern in meeting Robert’s pharmacy needs.

       In lieu of flowers, please generously support Nancy through your prayers and acts of kindness.

       Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service.
