Rose Joyce Johnson Obituary

          A celebration of life service for Rose Joyce Johnson, 76, of Huntington, will be held on June 6, 2019, at 12:00 noon, at Greater Love Tabernacle Church in Homer with ­­­­­­Pastor Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

          Mrs. Johnson was born October 3, 1942, in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Weldon Joe Alders and Ruby Gertrude (Duke) Alders and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 3rd, 11:53 pm, 2019 in Lufkin.

          She was a member of Greater Love Tabernacle in Homer and loved her church. She formerly worked as a secretary at Sam Houston State University, and later retired from T.D.C.J. in Huntsville, Texas.  Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker, loved people and traveling. She enjoyed cooking and working in her flower garden, spending time with her family, close friends, and sharing the joy of Christ to all those she met.

          Mrs. Johnson is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, James Eddie Johnson of Huntington; son, Joel Johnson of Nacogdoches; daughter, Kimberley Johnson of Huntsville; grandson and wife, Jeremy and Felicia Johnson of Bonnie, IL; grandson, Jordan Johnson of Nacogdoches; granddaughter, Faith Johnson of Summerville, SC; grandson, Lance Johnson of Sesser, IL; great-granddaughter, Isabella Rose Johnson of Bonnie, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Nolan and Virginia Alders of Nacogdoches; sister, Loretta Waggoner of Nacogdoches; sister, Bonnie Johnson of Woden; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Paula Alders of Midway, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

          She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Nathan Alders; sister-in-law, Tommie Alders; and brother-in-law, Dell Waggoner.

          Pallbearers are Nathan Alders, Jr., Rick Waggoner, Randy Waggoner, Bailey Alders, David Alders, Bryan Johnson, Greg Johnson, Scott Johnson, and Michael Alders.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Wally Dunks, Rusty Davis, Fred Rangel and Rev. W.E. Farris.

          Special memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank St., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

          Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, June 6, 2019 at Greater Love Tabernacle Church prior to the funeral service.
