Ruben Kilgore

          Memorial Visitation for Ruben Kilgore, 80, of Pineland, will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.

          Mr. Kilgore was born February 18, 1938 in Deport, Texas, the son of the late William Algie Kilgore and Ethel Aleta (Norris) Kilgore, and died Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Lufkin.

          Mr. Kilgore served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1962 as a military policeman. He loved to watch all types of sports and enjoyed fishing. Mr. Kilgore was a devoted husband, whom took excellent care of his wife. He was a member of the Bethel Chapel Baptist Church of Pineland.

          He is survived by his wife, Mary Kilgore of Pineland; son, Lonnie Kilgore of Diboll; son, Tommie Kilgore of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Stacy Kilgore of Diboll; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Debbie Kilgore of Pearland; first wife and mother of his children, Janet Kilgore of Diboll; granddaughter and husband, Korie and Ryan Albertson of Longview; grandson, Kraig Kilgore of Diboll; grandson, Jeremy Kilgore of Pearland; granddaughter, Gracie Kilgore of McMinnville, OR; grandson, Wesley Kilgore of McMinnville, OR; grandson, Roman Cantu of Pearland; granddaughter and husband, Amber and Tanner Hamelton of Dickinson, TX; grandson, Brandon Hopp of Groveton; granddaughter, Savannah Ricks of Diboll; great-grandson, Kolton Kilgore; great-granddaughter, Alexis Cantu; great-grandson, Roman Cantu; great-grandsons, Hunter Hopp and Lucus Hopp; great-grandson, Gunner Hamelton; great-grandson, Isiah Cantu; brother and sister-in-law, Algie Lee and Wanda Kilgore of Diboll; sister, Rosa Lee Wells of Hemphill; sister, Eloise Wells of Oakdale; sister, Jeannie Johnson of Salt Lake City, UT; and daughter-in-law, Teresa Kilgore of McMinnville, OR.

          Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by his parents; step-fathers, Bill Chisolm and Oscar Hickman; brother, Lewis “Mack” Kilgore; and son, Jonnie Kilgore.

          Honorary Pallbearers will be his Church Family.

          Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
