Funeral services for Thomas I. Elmer, 67, of Hudson, will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Robert Minshew and Bobby Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Elmer was born May 29, 1951 in Woodville, Texas, and died Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Lufkin.
Mr. Elmer was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to go camping, traveling, and to go gold prospecting in Colorado. Mr. Elmer served in the U.S. Army, worked at T.D.C.J. for 26 years, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Spurger, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Georgia Elmer of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Monica Elmer of Wimberley, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Robert Minshew of Hudson; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Marc Greer of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Stefanie Elmer of Hudson; grandsons, Micheal Grace, Mason Elmer, Lantz Greer, Zane Elmer, and Ryan Greer; granddaughter, Stacy Grace; sister and brother-in-law, Lora and James Aye of Warren, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Elmer was preceded in death by his mother, Corrie (Jordan) Elmer; and brother, James Elmer.
Pallbearers will be Micheal Grace, James Blades Jr., Shawn Grace, Joe Morris, Andrew Abernathy Jr., Jonathan Clark, Mason Elmer, and Lantz Greer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Johnson, Zane Elmer, Ryan Greer, and Stacy Grace.
