Graveside services for Vernon “Hoople” Jordan, 81, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin with Bro. Vic Bass and Bro. Charles Roberts officiating.
Mr. Jordan was born August 26, 1936 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Clyde Jordan and Muriel (Blackburn) Jordan, and died Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Houston.
Mr. Jordan enjoyed quail hunting and playing cards with his friends. He loved to work and to help other people in need. But most of all he loved being with his family. Mr. Jordan was a member of First Baptist Church of Lufkin.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wilma Jordan of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Billy Wicker of Colleyville, TX; son, Clyde Mart Jordan of Keller, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Taylor and Adriana Jordan of Colleyville, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Bridgette and Wes Norwood of Colleyville, TX; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Fredonia Eubanks of Jacksonville, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Nada and Donald Minshew of Lufkin; sister, Dillie McGaughey of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Johny and Travis Ainsworth of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Susie Jordan of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Dexter and Sue Jordan of Tyler.
Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, his son, and his grandson.
Pallbearers will be Biff Purdue, Randy Minshew, Lane Norwood, Billy Wicker, Wes Norwood, and Leyton Norwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.E. Driskle, and Charles Fredrick.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the graveside service.
