Funeral services for Virgil Lee Burran, 82, of Burran Town, will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Roy Lee Bobbit officiating. Interment will follow at Weches Cemetery in Houston County.
Mr. Burran was born August 2, 1936 in Ratcliff, Texas, the son of the late Sanford Burran and Opal (Dillard) Burran, and died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Burran served in the United States Navy and later retired from Kennard ISD. He loved his junk and tending to his garden. Mr. Burran was a master mechanic and a jack of all trades. He loved his family and loved to joke and laugh with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Burran of Burran Town; sons, Tony Burran, Jerry Burran, Rex Burran, and Sanford Burran, all of Burran Town; daughter, Susan Burran of Weches, TX; grandchildren, Steven, Samantha, Taylor, Katheren, Patrick, Randy, and Dylan; great-grandchildren, C.J. and Lovella; and sister, Merle Cross of Katy, TX.
Mr. Burran was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Burran and Waymon Burran; and sister, Frankie Lowery.
Pallbearers will be Steven Burran, Randy Burran, Dylan Amidon, Patrick Burran, William Harrison, Carson Peterek, Josh Fox, and Jake Burran.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey Lynn Peacock.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
