Alma Graciela Perez

          Mass of Christian Burial for Alma Graciela Perez, 73, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lufkin with Father Denzil Vithanage officiating. Interment will follow at  Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.

          Mrs. Perez was born on November 6, 1950, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, to  the late Don Tomas Zavala and Micaela (Galvan) de Zavala, and died Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Lufkin.

          Alma moved to Lufkin in 1978, where she met her husband and began her family.  She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church where all of her children received their sacraments.  Her greatest joys in life came from creating memories with her husband, sons, and grandchildren.  She was a devoted wife and mother, always there when her family needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. 

          She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jesus Perez of Lufkin, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Jesus (Jr.) and Flor Perez of Katy, TX; son, Joseph Perez of Lufkin, TX; son, David Perez of Lufkin, TX; grandchildren, Jayden, Judy, and Julia Perez of Katy, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Tomas and Berta Zavala of Piedras Negras, MX; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Felipe Avila of San Antonio, TX; and brother and sister-in-law, Jose (Pepe) and Diana Zavala of San Antonio, TX.

          She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ninfa Zavala de Luis, Isabela Hernandez, and Juana Ozuna; and brother, Armando Zavala

          Pallbearers will be Jesus Perez Sr., Jesus Perez Jr., Joseph Perez, David Perez, Jayden Perez, and Daniel Gonzalez.

          Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.  Rosary will be recited following the visitation at 7:30 p.m.

          La Misa de Entierro Cristiano para Alma Graciela Pérez, de 73 años, de Lufkin, se llevará a cabo el lunes 29 de julio de 2024 a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica de San Patricio en Lufkin con el Padre Denzil Vithanage oficiando. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Whitehouse en Lufkin.

          La Sra. Pérez nació el 6 de noviembre de 1950 en Piedras Negras, Coahuila, México, hija del difunto Don Tomás Zavala y Micaela (Galván) de Zavala, y falleció el jueves 25 de julio de 2024 en Lufkin.

          Alma se mudó a Lufkin en 1978, donde conoció a su esposo y comenzó su familia.  Fue feligresa de toda la vida de la iglesia católica de San Patricio, donde todos sus hijos recibieron sus sacramentos.  Sus mayores alegrías en la vida provenían de crear recuerdos con su esposo, hijos y nietos.  Fue una esposa y madre devota, siempre estuvo ahí cuando su familia más la necesitaba, ofreciendo apoyo, sabiduría y amor en abundancia. 

           Le sobreviven su esposo de 44 años, Jesús Pérez de Lufkin, TX; hijo y nuera, Jesús (Jr.) y Flor Pérez de Katy, TX; hijo, Joseph Pérez de Lufkin, TX; hijo, David Pérez de Lufkin, TX; nietos, Jayden, Judy y Julia Pérez de Katy, TX; hermano y cuñada, Tomás y Berta Zavala de Piedras Negras, MX; hermana y cuñado, María y Felipe Ávila de San Antonio, TX; y hermano y cuñada, José (Pepe) y Diana Zavala de San Antonio, TX.

          Fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres; las hermanas, Ninfa Zavala de Luis, Isabela Hernández y Juana Ozuna; y hermano, Armando Zavala

          Los portadores del féretro serán Jesús Pérez Sr., Jesús Pérez Jr., José Pérez, David Pérez, Jayden Pérez y Daniel González.

          El velorio se llevará a cabo de 5:30 p.m. a 7:30 p.m., el domingo 28 de julio de 2024, en la Funeraria Shafer.  Se rezará el rosario después de la visitación a las 7:30 p.m.
