Funeral services for Amanda Brockett Ridgeway, 69, of Huntington, will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 212 S. Main, Huntington, with Bro. Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow at Huntington Cemetery.
Mrs. Ridgeway was born October 7, 1951, in Lufkin, Texas, to Coleman Brockett and Jean (Hayes) Abbott, and died October 3, 2021, in Lufkin.
She married the love of her life, Don, on June 10, 1972. They spent 49 wonderful years together. She loved basketball and coached little dribblers. She loved spending time with family; her kids and grandkids were her life. Amanda was a member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church, she loved spreading Christ’s love and teaching little kids about Jesus.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Don Ridgeway of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Randy Brooks of Diboll; daughter, Brandy Harris of Huntington; grandchildren, Kira Brooks, Mia Brooks, Matthew Brooks, all of Diboll, Lindsey and Trey Atkinson of Lufkin, Courtney McCollum, B.J. Harris, Bralen Davis, and Rhiannon Davis all of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Tina Brockett; brother, James Abbott; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Aña Abbott; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Coleman Brockett and mother, Jean “Gray” Abbott.
Pallbearers will be Tim Johnson, Brennan Johnson, Ronnie Ridgeway, Stephen Abbott, Randy Brooks, Brooks Russell, and Oscar Buckner.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
