Funeral services for Amy Lynn Duplechain-Montelongo, 37, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Earl Farris officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery.

            Amy was born on November 17, 1987, in Houston, Texas, to Louis Paul Duplechain, Sr. and Cynthia Lynn Jackson, and died Friday, April 11, 2025, in Livingston, Texas.

            Amy was a resident of East Texas. She resided in Lufkin where she met her husband and the father of her youngest son, Daxton Paul Montelongo who was born on December 10, 2023, in Lufkin. On April 11, 2025, Amy lost her life in a tragic car accident.

           Amy, a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, wife, and mother. Amy was a fighter, period, figuratively and literally. She was a nurturer, caretaker, loving, caring, and beautiful person. Amy wasn’t one to break down. Win, lose, or draw, Amy was ten toes down always; or more simply put, stubborn. She was very much loved and will be missed.

           She leaves behind her two children, Daxton Paul Montelongo born December 11, 2023 in Lufkin, TX, and Jayden Cantu, born September 21, 2009 in Cleveland, TX, and stepson, Daniel Montelongo, Jr. of Lufkin; her husband, Daniel Montelongo, Sr. of Lufkin; mother, Cynthia Lynn Jackson; father and stepmother, Louis Paul Duplechain and Lillian of Edinburg, TX; brothers, Louis Paul Duplechain, Jr., Rudy Allen Svetlik, Gene Lee Denton, Charles Lee Denton; grandmother, Betty Whittington; aunts, Lee Ann Aloyoun of Cleveland, TX, Teri Simick and husband Robert of Bell Buckle, TN, and Mariam Muller of Tennessee; uncle, Frank Duplechain of Houston, TX; and nieces and nephews, Blayne Austin Denton, Peyton Andrew Svetlik, Bryleigh Campbell, Logan Lee Louis Duplechain, Landon Chase Duplechain, Allyson Raene Duplechain, and Jayden Jace Parker.

            She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillian Duplechain; aunts, Stephanie Yarbrough and Kim Duplechain; uncle, Robert Wayne Jackson; and nephew, Louis Paul Duplechain III.

            Pallbearers will be Louis Paul Duplechain, Sr., Louis Paul Duplechain, Jr., Rudy Allen Svetlik, Peyton Andrew Svetlik, Daniel Montelongo, Sr., and Jayden Cantu.

            Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
