Anna Goodson

             Funeral services for Anna Goodson, 83, of Kennard, will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ivie Cemetery in Kennard with Bro. Larry Andrews officiating.

            Anna was born on June 23, 1940, in Crockett, Texas, to the late Charles Bennett Westerman and Vallie Viola “Ola” (Dominy) Westerman, and died Friday, January 12, 2024, at her residence.

            Anna graduated from Stephen F. Austin University after raising 5 children. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God in Kennard.  Anna loved her family very much, especially her great-grand babies. She enjoyed spending time with her family on her front porch. Anna loved going to Blue Grass Festivals, flea markets, and garage sales.

            She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kelly Goodson of Weldon, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Janet Goodson of Lufkin; daughter, Pat Duell of Kennard, TX; son and daughter-in-law, David and Helen Goodson of Kennard, TX; granddaughter and husband, Sabrina and Stephen Chapman of Grapeland, TX; grandson and wife, Jeremy and Konnie Goodson of Lovelady, TX; grandson and wife, Justin and Maria Upshaw of Willis, TX; granddaughter and husband, Christine and Jamie Lowery of Kennard, TX; granddaughter and husband, Stephanie and Wilbert Ackley of Kennard, TX; grandson and spouse, Cody and Mike Upshaw of Spring, TX; grandson, Clark Goodson of College Station, TX; grandson, Kyle Goodson of League City, TX; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, William “Bill” Westerman of Kennard, TX; sister-in-law, Eunice Goodson Conner of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Robbie Goodson of Crockett; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

            Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, O’Neil Goodson; son, Dana Goodson; and sister-in-law, Glenda Westerman.

            Pallbearers will be Jeremy Goodson, Cody Upshaw, Clark Goodson, Kyle Goodson, Charles Westerman, Hunter Goodson, and Carson Chapman.

            Honorary pallbearers will be AJ Ackley, Elijah Stokes, Cody Ackley, Wilbert Ackley, and Jamie Lowery.

            Special memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, N.E., Atlanta, GA  30329.

            Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
