A Visitation for Armando Vargas Ibarra, 58, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin. A rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Vargas was born on August 1, 1966, in Nuevo Ideal, Durango, Mexico, to Erasmo Vargas and Maria Cristina Ibarra, and died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in Houston.
Mando was a loving and caring man who always supported anyone with a dream to accomplish their goals. He was a loving father, loving husband, and the best role model to the men in his family. He loved all his family, giving everyone of them their own nicknames. Everyone who knew him knew him as a kind, patient man who was always in a good mood, ready to lift up everyone’s spirits. Mando lovingly looked after his mother and ensured that she was always cared for. He enjoyed fishing with his family and often traveled to Mexico for vacation to soak up nature.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cecilia Vargas of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Cristina and Daniel Santoyo of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Gustavo and Mayra Vargas of Lufkin; daughter, Vanessa Vargas; grandchildren, Brianna Santoyo, Daniel Santoyo, Jr., Isabella Santoyo, Christian Santoyo, Elisa Vargas, Iria Elena Vargas, Gustavo Vargas, Jr., and Fernando Vargas; mother, Maria Cristina Ibarra of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Javier and Isabel Vargas of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Erasmo and Cecilia Vargas of Lufkin; sister, Maria Del Refugio Vargas of Houston; sister, Maria Guadalupe Vargas of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Abel and Lourdes Vargas of Lufkin; sister, Maria and Manuel Escalera of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Jorge and Brenda Vargas of Lufkin.
He was preceded in death by his father.
