Art Kimble

           Funeral services for Art Kimble, 60, of Grapeland, will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Todd Alston officiating.

          Mr. Kimble was born on November 17, 1963, in Texas City, Texas, to James Albert Kimble and Ruby Inez (Baird) Kimble, and died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his residence.

          Mr. Kimble graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1982, where he was involved in choir, baseball, and football. He worked for Buckeye Pipeline from 2001 to 2023 when he retired. Mr. Kimble enjoyed playing softball and roller-skating, known as the “Skate King”.  He loved the Texas Longhorns, Houston Astros, and the Houston Texans. He enjoyed going to the beach and listening to classic rock. Mr. Kimble married his wife Casandra on October 26, 2017. He loved his family very much and his prize possession was his grandchildren.

           Mr. Kimble is survived by his wife, Casandra Kimble of Grapeland; son, John Kimble of Anahuac; daughter-in-law, Elise Kimble of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Nicole Kimble of Kaplan, LA; daughter, Janessa of Livingston; daughter, Haley Mettlen of Nacogdoches; daughter, Emily of Grapeland and daughter-in-law, Emily Pharris; grandchildren, Serenity, Sterling, Stetson, Stanton, Steele of Livingston; grandchildren, Rylan and Jack of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Naomi and Ruby of Lufkin; grandson, Jeremy of Kaplan, LA; mother, Ruby Kimble of Dekalb; brother, Jerry Kimble of Dekalb; sister-in-law, Denise Carter and husband Wiley of Baytown; and father-in-law, Mickey Butler and wife Brenda of Center.

          He was preceded in death by his father, James Kimble; sister, Betty Thomas; and brothers, Bill Kimble, Jim Kimble, and Larry “Babe” Kimble.

          Pallbearers will be John Wilson, David Wilson, Emily Pharris, Brandon Kimble, Wiley Carter, and Lance Ortiz.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Van Vactor and Gene Langford.

          Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home, prior to the funeral service..
