Funeral services for Bert Allen Ramey, 75, of Huntington, will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ty Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Huntington.
Bert was born March 6, 1948, in Huntington, Texas, to Bert Ramey and Vera Mae (Thomas) Ramey, and passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024.
Bert was of Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing in the nearby lakes of his home. He loved and knew everything about cars and learned to drive at age 9. Bert loved his M&Ms and Three Musketeers candy bars. Bert also loved watching Shark Tank and the Andy Griffith show. At a young age he traveled around the world and earned his high school diploma while in Japan. He served in the military in both the Marines and the Army and completed two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Bert drove a tow truck for over forty years and loved to drive until the last months of his life.
Bert is survived by his daughter, Shelly Ramey of Huntington; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Ryan Jr. and Nichole of Porter, Johnny Ryan and LeeAnn of Houston; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Donna and Klaus Pfeffer of Austin; grandchildren, Ryan Ramey, Bradley Freeman, and Brett Evans of Huntington, Koleton Ryan of Porter, Samantha Ryan of Houston, Kenneth Kleinworth of Tomball, Amber Schaefer of Houston, Emma Pfeffer, Willie Pfeffer, and Werner Pfeffer of Austin; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; along with his brother Milton Ramey, of Huntington and numerous nieces, nephews, sister and brother in-laws and various loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Frances (Davenport) Ramey; parents, Bert and Vera Mae Ramey; sisters, Marie Lowery and Mabel Ramey; niece, Debra Vanden; mother and father in-law, John and Sadie Davenport; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Ramey.
Pallbearers are Bradley Freeman, Jerry Ryan, Jr., Franklin Patterson, Jr., Virgil Hodges, Jr., Charles Young, David Miller, Elwood Lowery and Klaus Pfeffer.
Bert will truly be missed by all.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service.
