Memorial services for Carl Fredrick Wagoner, 82, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Chaplain Joshua McNeely officiating.
Mr. Wagoner was born on July 19, 1941, in New Harrisburg, Ohio, to the late Paul Asbury Wagoner and Dorothy (Wiley) Wagoner, and died Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Lufkin, peacefully surrounded by family.
Mr. Wagoner was an avid fisherman. He spent many days on the lakes of Georgia, Florida, and Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas. Mr. Wagoner was a truck driver in his younger years but could not get away from his love of small engine repair. He owned a lawn mower business in Carrollton, Ohio and in Lufkin, Texas. Mr. Wagoner knew small engines like the back of his hand and was known to be able to fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wagoner is survived by the mother of his children, Ruth Richardson; daughter and husband, Carla and Curt Smith of Lufkin; daughter and husband, Chris and Steve Tullos of Mont Belvieu, Texas; son, Kevin Wagoner of Lufkin; son, Kurt Wagoner of Lufkin; son and wife, Kory and Karen Wagoner of Lufkin; grandchildren, Kyle Smith, Kody Smith, Callie Smith, Natalie Davis, Nicholas White, Reagan Tullos, Alexis Hale, Kole Wagoner, Kail Wagoner, and Karter Wagoner; great-grandchildren, Yvonne Ferman, Addison Davis, Aria Davis, and Ezra Davis; brothers, Ronnie Wagoner, Mike Wagoner, and Ronald Betz; sisters, Paula Gartrell, and Judy Lechner; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his stepmother, Helena Betz Wagoner, brothers, Glen Wagoner, Johnny Wagoner, and Bruce Moretta, and sister, Joan Johnson.
