Carolyn Sue Savery

          Memorial services for Carolyn Sue Savery, 54, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, July 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bobby Moore officiating.

          Mrs. Savery was born on October 15, 1968, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Jessie Henry Church and Barbara Sue (Hodges) Church, and died Monday, July 17, 2023, in Houston.

          Mrs. Savery enjoyed cooking and was wonderful at it. She worked for Mom’s Diner in Lufkin for over 30 years. Mrs. Savery loved to go on road trips and travel with her sister. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren, family, and friends. Mrs. Savery liked to play a good game of pool. 

          She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Peter Savery of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Gunner Savery and Rachael Taylor of Lufkin; son, Michael Savery of Lufkin; grandson, Bryson Savery of Lufkin; grandson, Ryker Savery of Lufkin; granddaughter, Realynn Savery of Lufkin; grandson, Harlen Savery of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Brian Faulkner of Hudson; niece and husband, Jessica and Ryan Mahr of Lufkin; nephew and wife, Hunter and Seely Thomas of Haltom City, TX; nephew and wife, Dustin and Kelsey Thomas of Broaddus, TX; nephew, Harley Thomas of Hudson; along with numerous cousins, other family members, and friends.

          Mrs. Savery was preceded in death by her parents; and grandmother, Lena Church.

          A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home, prior to the memorial service.
