Funeral services for Carrol “Paw-Paw” Ivey, 82, of Diboll, Texas, will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin with Pastor Myrton Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.
Mr. Ivey was born on January 17, 1943, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late William Monroe Ivey and Bertha Lee (Lardrum) Ivey, and died on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Diboll.
He was a beloved husband of Verma Ivey for 57 years who loved his family dearly, especially his children and grandchildren. He loved to spend his time camping, fishing and attending blue grass festivals. He was considered “Mr. Fix It” and there was nothing he couldn’t repair. He was a proud and faithful member of Promise Land Baptist Church and was especially fond of the monthly singings there.
Mr. Ivey graduated from high school in 1961 and immediately began training to become an electrician under the guidance of Gene Kennard. He was a dedicated employee and hard worker. He held the position of electrician at Temple Fiberboard for 23 years, from 1961 to 1984, and then worked for Lufkin Industries from 1984 to 2008 where he retired. He held the special honor of being the electrician who wired Rudolph the Red-Nosed Pumping Unit with Christmas lights, a downtown Lufkin holiday tradition where a large, 45-foot-tall oil pumping unit is decorated to look like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife, Verma (Kee) Ivey; daughter, Karen Lea Ivey; daughter-in-law, Gena Ivey; son-in-law, B.J. Brewer; grandchildren, April Wetherell, Amber Montes, and Samantha Carrol Ivey; five greatgrandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Kee; and special friend, Bobby Alderman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Ivey; brother, Vernon Ivey; brother, Bill Ivey; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Ivey) and Bennie Mayo; brother-in-law, Billy Kee; and brother-in-law, J.D. Kee.
Pallbearers will be Trey Thompson, B.J. Brewer, Timothy Parsons, Terry Rogers, Keith Alderman, and Covale McRae.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Alderman, and James Price
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2025, at Promise Land Baptist Church in Lufkin.
