Funeral services for Charlie Franklin, 74, of Zavalla, formerly of Aiken, South Carolina, will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Ron Meadows. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Franklin was born on December 7, 1950, in Slaton, Texas, to the late William Arthur Franklin and Zula Mae (Rodger) Franklin, and died Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Lufkin.
Mr. Franklin was a family man who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He enjoyed playing bingo and listening to music. Mr. Franklin especially loved Elvis and singing to his music.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his son, Billy Franklin of Zavalla; daughter and son-in-law, Shandi and Eduardo Ibarra of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Paul Hardy of Mt. Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law, Charly and Kenny Ferguson of Nacogdoches; grandson and wife, Christopher and Rylee Ferguson of Carthage; grandson, Christian Ibarra of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Cordell and Victoria Walker of San Antonio; grandson and wife, Kobe and Aubree Montes of Mt. Enterprise; granddaughter and husband, Raeann and Anthony Rodriguez of Nacogdoches; granddaughter and fiancé, Jasmine Ibarra and Dalton Thumann of Lufkin; grandson, Adrian Ibarra of Lufkin; granddaughter, Kyley Ferguson of Etoile; grandson, Bradley Ferguson of Nacogdoches; granddaughter and husband, Trinity and Seth Simmons of Westville, OK; grandson and wife, Steven and Faith Hardy of Mt. Enterprise; granddaughter, Hope Garcia of Big Sandy; granddaughter and husband, Brandy and Shawn Simpson of Dallas; great-grandson, Nathan Flores; great-granddaughter, Delilah Montes; great-granddaughter, Addyson Flores; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Ferguson; great-granddaughter, Emery Montes; great-grandson, Altaïr Simmons; sister, Earlene Faircloth of Aiken, SC; sister, Sandy Britt of Aiken, SC; sister, Debra Hollis of Huntington; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Imogene Adams; and brothers, Daniel Franklin and Joe Earl Franklin.
Pallbearers will be Christian Ibarra, Adrian Ibarra, Bradley Ferguson, Christopher Ferguson, Billy Franklin, Kenny Ferguson, Paul Hardy, and Eduardo Ibarra.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Gregory and Jacob Batson.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
