Memorial services for Christy Hassell, 56, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Lufkin with Bro. Steve Cowart officiating.
Christy was born on September 12, 1969, in Pharrell, Texas, to the late Alan Burton Farrar and Dolores Jean (Small) Farrar, and died Friday, April 17, 2026, in Lufkin.
Christy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lufkin and sang in the choir there. She worked as a legal assistant for John Weismuller Law Firm. When Christy became a mother she decided to become a homemaker. She loved keeping up her home and was a wonderful cook. Christy was a great listener, always gave the best advice, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved being at home with her husband watching their favorite shows. Christy was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Once Christy re-entered the workforce, she worked for Central High School in the Child Nutrition department.
She is survived by her husband, Royen Hassell of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Rustin Scott of Nacogdoches; daughter, Harley Bonham of Bentonville, AR; grandchildren, Ryder Scott, River Scott, and Ridge Scott; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Lieutenant Colonel Sean Eyre of Kauffman, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Scott Roberts of Dallas; stepmother, Virginia Farrar of Rockdale, TX; stepbrother, Christopher Frei and wife Bradi of Boerne, TX; stepbrother, Stephen Frei and wife Jessie of West Bend, WI; stepsister, Diane Quiroga and husband Eric of San Antonio, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Christy was preceded in death by her parents; and eight miscarried children.
Honorary pallbearers will be SFC Jason Pierson, Eddy Allison, Jess Brooks, Eddie Brown, Ron Chamberlin, Stanley Davis, John Jones, and Jeff Fatheree.
