Funeral services for Danny Wayne Whisenant, 59, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, with Bro. Keith Bickley officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile, Texas.

          Mr. Whisenant was born on June 19, 1966, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Gerald Wayne Whisenant and Linda Fae (Cook) Whisenant, and died Monday, June 8, 2026, in Lufkin.

          Danny worked in the logging industry as a log cutter his entire life and was nicknamed “Caveman”. His first job was with Trees, Inc. and he later went on to work for Bobby Fitts, Mike Carter, Charles Meador, Brad and Harvey Hodges, Clayton Wallace, and Roho Poulan.  In the last few years, he was a millwright for PID and Hoke Industrial. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and camping. He lived in Colorado for a short time while working at an Army base doing concrete work. Danny was always the life of the party and forever had a smile on his face. He had many lifelong friends that he enjoyed spending time with. He was an excellent chef who loved to cook for his friends and family.

          He is survived by his mother, Linda Whisenant of Etoile; son, Daniel Whisenant of Lufkin; son, Tristan Whisenant of Lufkin; grandson, Weston Wade Whisenant of Lufkin; granddaughter, Dahlia Starr Whisenant of Lufkin; granddaughter, Lainey Whisenant of Lufkin; brother, Dennis Whisenant of Etoile; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Vickie Whisenant of Pollok, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Stacy and Cody Parrish of Pollok; and sister, Sherry Smith of Pollok.

          Danny was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Whisenant; Papaw, Julius Whisenant; Mamaw, Bonnie Whisenant; Papaw, Hoyt Cook; Mamaw, Clara Cook; uncle, Kenneth Whisenant; uncle, Robert Cook; and cousins,  Hoyt Cook and Don Parker.

          Pallbearers will be Chuck Hardin, Greg “Gunner” Smith, Steve “Speedy” Bounds, Anthony “Whip” Montgomery, Jamie Acosta, and Donnie Hawkins.

          Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Lee, Jr.,  Shane Tollus, and David Lynn Dunn.

          Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Shafer Funeral Home.
