Funeral services for David Hernandez, 77, of Huntington, formerly of El Salvador, will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiano Bautista in Lufkin with Rev. Marcos Elizondo officiating. Interment will follow at White House Cemetery.
Mr. Hernandez was born December 29, 1942 in El Sauce, Departamento de la Union, El Salvador, son of Concepcion Villatoro and Maria Hernandez, and passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2020, in Denton, Texas.
David was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Growing up in El Salvador, he learned about agriculture which came to be his career and worked very hard doing so. Later, in his life he was recruited to fight for his country which he did with such pride. David enjoyed fishing, playing with his grandkids, teaching them the importance of life, and spending time with family and friends. But the one thing he enjoyed most of all was sitting outside on a beautiful day and telling his long stories of life experience and battle scars. David lived his life working hard every day with no complaints up until he became sick, just to make sure his family had and would have any and everything they needed. Never did he put himself first, it was always family and others. This is what made him such an amazing person.
David Hernandez is survived and lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 57 years, Maria P. Velasquez de Hernandez; children, David A Hernandez & Sra.
