Dedra Lynne Channel

            It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dedra Lynne Channel. Mrs. Channel passed on October 10, 2024, at the age of 59. Her untimely passing was due to an unfortunate complication of surgery. Dedra was born on June 8, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to Franklin T. Fredregill and Susan E. Sharp.

            Dedra was known for her strong determination, spunky personality, as well as her love and support for her family and church. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin, TX. As a grandmother she took much pleasure in showering her grandchildren with affection. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, along with her faith in the Lord. She will be deeply missed.   

            Dedra worked as a nurse aide for Lufkin State Supportive Living Center in Pollok, TX, where she was a beacon of kindness and compassion. Dedra took great pride in her position as a DSP3 and the care she provided to all. She treated each patient as if they were family. Her absence will truly be felt, but she will forever live on in our hearts.

             Preceded in joining the Lord: Father, Franklin T. Fredregill; son, Richard G. McMullen; sister, Donna Vann; brother, David Fredregill and aunt, Mary Jane Sharp.

             Survived by her husband, Jody W. Channel; mother, Susan E. Sharp; son, Jeffrey K. McMullen; daughter, Stephany L. Madden; son, Mitchel D. Conner; daughter, Brittany N. Fredregill; daughter, Elizabeth F. Price; along with loving sisters, brothers, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.  

            Pallbearers will be Mitchel Conner, Korbyn Gates, Reese Pugh, Jeffrey McMullen, Anthony Scalise Jr., and Micheal Tate.

            Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.

            Funeral services for Mrs. Channel will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin with Rev. Joe Stanley officiating. Interment will follow at Gann Cemetery in Lufkin.
