Funeral services for Dennis Ray Forrest, 75, of Diboll, will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Darel Forrest officiating. Interment will follow at Fielders Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mr. Forrest was born on October 7, 1948, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Hogue Forrest and Hazel (Middleton) Forrest, and died peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his home with a smile on his face.
Mr. Forrest was of the Lutheran faith and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from the trucking industry with over 50 years’ experience. Mr. Forrest loved music and dancing. He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him.
Mr. Forrest is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William Cody and Ashley Forrest of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Paul McFarland of Magnolia, TX; daughter, Debbie of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Paige Hadnot and husband Dmarcus of Calhan, CO, Taylor Spence of Lufkin, Cole McFarland of Magnolia, and Cayden McFarland of Magnolia; great-grandchild, Nia Hadnot of Calhan, CO; sister, Carolyn Stover of Diboll, TX; and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Forrest of New Braunfels, TX, and Delight Allen of Diboll, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charlotte Forrest; brother, Jerry Don Forrest; and brother-in-law, Smokie Stover.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Brent Forrest, Darel Forrest, James Dillon, Richard Stover, Rusty Stover, Caleb Forrest, and Lance Redd.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Truss, Byron Watson, and Rob Harrell.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home.
