Funeral services for Donald Oscar Burrous, 72, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Burl McBride III officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mr. Burrous was born on March 9, 1951, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Oscar Andrew Burrous and Johnnie Marie (Thigpen) Burrous, and died Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in Lufkin.
Mr. Burrous worked as a security guard for Texas Metal Casting for 17 years. He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and working in his garden. Mr. Burrous loved spending time with his family and especially being around his grandchildren.
He is survived by his significant other, Debra Wade of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and James McEntire of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Dorothy Burrous of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Tyler Williamson of Huntington; stepdaughter, Melanie Wade of Diboll; granddaughter and husband, Amber and Clay Powell of Lufkin; grandson and wife, Dakota and Brandi Burrous of Zavalla; granddaughter and husband, Destiny and Mark Husband of Zavalla; grandson, Hunter Burrous of Diboll; grandson and wife, Gunnar and Megan Farr of Zavalla; granddaughter, Ashley Husband of Huntington; grandson, James McEntire of Huntington; granddaughter, Brookelyn Powell of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Abby, Maddy, Corbin, Casen, Daxton, Thomas, Johnny, Rowen, Leland, and Ensliey, sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Ray Griffith of Pollok; sister, Martha Jo Evans of Diboll; along with numerous nieces and nephews .
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Barbara Mayhar, brother-in-law, Cloyce Evans.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Burrous, Gunnar Farr, James Donald McEntire, James McEntire, Mark Husband, Dakota Burrous, Gary Ferguson, and Clay Powell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Trevor Powell and Johnny Burrous.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Shafer Funeral Home.
