Donna Ann Tobias Obituary

Funeral services for Donna Ann (Adams) Tobias, 70, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Clawson Assembly of God Church in Pollok, Texas, with Pastor Kevin Poage and Paster Josh Poage officiating. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mrs. Tobias passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on February 8, 1955, in Livingston, Texas, to the late Mack Adams and Shirley (Crawford) Mosley.

Donna worked as a nurse in Angelina County for 30 years. She earned her LVN certification from Angelina College in 1992 and went on to receive her RN from Kilgore College in 1995. Nursing was more than a career for Donna. It was a reflection of her caring and nurturing spirit. Before becoming a nurse, she shared her skills and creativity by teaching cosmetology for eight years. She retired in 2020.

She loved her family fiercely and was the best wife, mom, Nonna, and Great-Nonna anyone could ask for. She took joy in seeing her family happy and made every moment together meaningful. Donna had a passion for antiques, especially colored glass and teapot sets. She also enjoyed keeping her husband busy for the last 44 years. Every idea she had, he was always there to make it happen. If she could think it up he could and would build it for her. She was the rock of her family, yet always a soft place to land when needed.

Mrs. Tobias was a member at Clawson Assembly of God and loved Wednesday services with Pastor Kevin.

Donna’s life was one of love, service, and devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Tobias is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Emmitt ( Bubba) Tobias; mother, Shirley Mosley; son, Gary Carswell; daughter and son-in-law, Jenifer and Matt Carnes; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Frank’e Tobias; sister, Machelle Tolbert; special niece, Ramonna Elliott; grandchildren, Taylor Carswell and wife, Kelsy Carswell, Gabby Culpepper and Andrew Culpepper, Darrin Sappington, Karter Tullos, Korlee Tobias, and Palmer Tobias; great grandchildren, Hunter Culpepper, Avery Culpepper, and Madison Carswell; special fur babies, Emma, Jo Jo, Max, and the late Motley.

She was preceded in death by her father; son, Daryl Carswell; and sister, Paula (Adams) French.

Pallbearers will be Zach Adams, Zane Adams, Zeb Adams, Andrew Culpepper, Matt Carnes, and Daniel Warner.

Special memorials may be made to East Texas Cancer Alliance.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Shafer Funeral Home.
