Memorial services for Donnis Nerren, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Jimmy Dunn officiating.
Mr. Nerren was born on May 9, 1948, in Lufkin, Texas, to the late Norris William Nerren and Gladys Aretha (Spears) Nerren, and died Friday, August 23, 2024, at his residence.
Mr. Nerren proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked as a logger for many years in the East Texas area. Mr. Nerren was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a faithful Christian man. He was a good ole boy who loved horses and the outdoors. Mr. Nerren also was an avid reader, who especially loved to read his bible and Louis L'Amour Western novels. He also enjoyed Elvis Presley’s music, specifically his gospel classics. Above all, Mr. Nerren loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Nerren is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Nerren; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Byron Russell; son and daughter-in-law, William “Bubba” and Shelley Nerren; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Martin Perez; grandchildren, Summer Simoneaux, Chelsea Alvey, Kayla Torres, Alexis Nunemacher, Ashley Lowery, Amber Lowery, Dakoda Perez, and Skylar Perez; and great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Simoneaux, Kylee Crain, Brooklynn Torres, Kennedy Bryant, and Scarlett Torres; sister, Glenda Daniels; sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and James Getro; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Sean Simoneaux; and brothers, Kenneth Nerren and Wayne Nerren.
