Dorothy Lynn Walker Temple Obituary

Memorial services for Dorothy Lynn Walker Temple, 70, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Congregational Church in Lufkin with Rev. Randall Green and Rev. Buddy Walker officiating.

Mrs. Temple, adored wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished member of the Lufkin community was born on October 29, 1954, in Lufkin, Texas, to Berwyn Walker and Dorothy (O’Quinn) Walker, and died Friday, September 12, 2025, in Lufkin.

Dorothy was a proud lifelong resident of East Texas. She attended Lufkin schools, where she met the love of her life, George Temple, during their high school years. They married in 1974 and celebrated 51 years this past June.

Together, Dorothy and George raised two wonderful children, Marian and George, Jr., who were the pride of her life. Her love of family grew larger with the addition of her son-in-law, Craig Corley, daughter-in-law, Anna Temple, and her two granddaughters, Madison Corley and Maya Corley.

Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with family, friends, and her beloved Australian Shepherd “Buster” George. She celebrated life in big ways with trips to places like her beloved New Orleans or Santa Fe.  And she also celebrated life in simpler ways by enjoying a cup of coffee on her patio with her family or ordering a dessert like her favorite tiramisu to prolong a nice time just a little bit longer. Dorothy was also a member of The Daughters of The Republic of Texas, The Order of Daughters of The King, and The Daughters of The American Revolution.

Dorothy enjoyed all things western.  From classic old western movies to enjoying the rodeo, to caring for her own horses, she was always a cowgirl at heart.

She loved her people and her community fiercely and was actively involved in both her church and numerous community organizations. She never knew a stranger, and her heart for service will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, George Temple; daughter, Marian Temple Corley her husband Craig Corley; son, George Temple, Jr. and his wife Anna Trotzuk Temple; granddaughter and fiancé, Madison Corley and Matthew Ward; granddaughter, Maya Corley; mother, Dorothy Walker; brother, Hyral Berwyn “Buddy” Walker, Jr.; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kurth Memorial Adoption Center, at 1901 Hill St., Lufkin, TX 75904.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service at Christ Congregational Church in the parish hall. A reception will follow at the conclusion of the service at the church in the parish hall.
