Doyle Rogers Jr. Obituary

          Doyle Duncan Rogers Jr., 86, of Lufkin, was born on January 5, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Doyle Duncan Rogers Sr. and Louise (Hill) Rogers, and died Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Lufkin surrounded by his family.

          Mr. Doyle was a devoted husband, dad, and granddad whose life was characterized by service. He faithfully served in the United Sates Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an active Freemason and Shriner for 50 years, earning his 32nd degree. He was a loyal Boy Scout Leader for 30 years serving various roles. Doyle also showed compassion and care to many people as a member of Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief Team. He was the President of Duncanville High School band boosters in the 1980’s. He was a faithful and active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, Texas, for over 20 years. When he wasn’t spending time with family or serving other, you could find him “resting his eyes” in front of his favorite John Wayne movie.   

         He is survived by his wife, Donna Gail Rogers of Lufkin; daughter, Deidra Morrow of Pine Knot, KY; daughter and son-in-law, Ben and Jeffie Burns of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Bret Schwitzer of Midlothian, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Greg Hollabaugh of Abilene, TX; son and husband, David Duncan and Nick Litwin of Porto, Portugal; son, Don Duncan of Sacramento, CA; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; along with many beloved family and friends.  

        He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Scott Rogers; grandson, Jonathan Hunter Nelms; and son-in-law, David Morrow.
