Ellis Wayne Allen Obituary

Ellis Wayne Allen 57, of Pollok was born in Lufkin Texas on February 2, 1969 and went home to be with the Lord after a hard-fought battle with cancer on April 25, 2026.

He was a lifetime resident of the Central community, member of the O’Quinn Baptist Church, and a graduate of Central High School. He was recently employed with St. Giles.

He loved playing sports and was a top athlete at Central High School holding several scoring records in basketball before the three-point shot was instituted. He was named a top 10 basketball player in Angelina County and named all district for three years. Wayne was a member of the 1985 team that had the highest percentage of free throw shooting in the state for class 3A. He was also named to the Texas High School Coaches Academic All State Team. In baseball Wayne was a three time all district player as a shortstop and pitcher. While playing for Lufkin Dixie baseball he played on six all-star teams, winning two state championships and competing in two World Series coached by Bud Maddox and his father Pat. He once threw a no hitter in the state tournament.

He was known as “Mr. Fixit” to family and friends, always able to repair anything broken. An avid outdoorsman and deer hunter, he killed several bucks that won Texas Parks and Wildlife awards, with many mounts and horns displayed in his home. Wayne and friend Randy Thames won the Angelina County Go Texan washer pitching contest several years in a row and finished top 4 of 75 teams at the Houston Livestock Show. Their participation brought scholarship money back to Angelina County.

He is survived by parents, Pat and Charlotte Allen of Pollok, beloved partner, Analisha Carrington of Kingwood, brother and sister in law Don and Dawne Allen of Pollok, sister Beverly Smith of Pollok, niece Ashley Brown of Somerville, Alabama, nephews Chase Allen (Sarah) of Grapevine, Colby Allen (Natalie) of Lufkin, and niece Michaela Willett (Connor) of Huntington, great nieces and nephews, Carter Brown, Cassidy Brown, Anniston Allen, Avery Allen, Evelyn Willet, Jackson Willet, Andrew Allen, and his Aunt Joy and Aunt Shirley.
