Elvia R. Prieto Obituary

Funeral services for Elvia R. Prieto, 80, of Diboll, will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Diboll with Father Luis Arroyave officiating. Interment will be at Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll.
Mrs. Prieto was born February 25, 1944, in Mapimí, Durango, Mexico, to the late Reyes Ramirez and Martha (Jimenez) Ramirez. She went to be with our Lord Monday, November 25, 2024, in a Houston hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Prieto resided in Diboll, Texas for 56 years. She worked at Pilgrim’s Pride for over 32 years before retiring. Prior to this, during her time in Mexico, Mrs. Prieto was a preschool teacher. She had a love for all things art and enjoyed both learning and creating all types of crafts. She was a talented painter and also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and embroidery in her free time. Mrs. Prieto was an amazing cook and a self-taught cake decorator. When she wasn’t immersed in a new crafting project, or in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal for the whole family, she could be found cheering on her favorite soccer team, Club América. In addition to her many hobbies, Mrs. Prieto had an affinity for music. She was a former orchestra musician in Mexico, where she played saxophone. She loved all types of music, but was especially fond of Big Band and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Her greatest love in life, however, was being a mother and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren and cherished spending time with them.
Mrs. Prieto is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rogelio Prieto Sr; her brother, Francisco Ramirez; her sister, Maria Del Rosario Ramirez; her daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Lupe Rodriguez; son and daughter-in-law, Jesus and Alma Prieto; son and daughter-in-law, Domingo and Laura Prieto; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Antonio Puente; son and daughter-in-law, Rogelio and Valarie Prieto; her grandchildren, Francisco Rodriguez, Aracely Ancira, Domingo Prieto Jr., Imelda Vazquez, Orlando Prieto, Rosa Elvia Rodriguez, Isabel Prieto, Omar Prieto, Vanessa Rodriguez, Adolfo Rodriguez Jr., Jesus Prieto Jr., Christian Prieto, and Leslie Prieto; her great-grandchildren, Alondra Vazquez, Ava Ancira, Cheyenne Ancira, Hailie Ancira, Lailani Prieto, Leo Prieto, Elisa Vazquez, Sebastian Vazquez, Elizandra Torres, Emiliano Torres, and Khaleesi Luna; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, five sisters, and her great-granddaughter, Speranza Ancira.
