Funeral services for Emilia Pargas Valdez, 94, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Los Pentecostal de Lufkin with Pastor Ruban Ayala officiating.
Mrs. Valdez was born on November 15, 1929, in Monclova, Mexico, to the late Aureliano Pargas and Leovigilda (Moncada) Pargas, and died Wednesday, February 27, 2024, in Lufkin.
Mrs. Valdez was a member of Los Pentecostal de Lufkin and was very involved in her church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, and listening to Christian music as she sang along. Mrs. Valdez was a wonderful cook and loved to cook for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Rodriguez of Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Rolando and Alma Rodriguez of Eagle Pass, TX; daughter, Dora Ocon of Crosby, TX; daughter, Gracy Mandujano of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Emilia and Juan Carlos Garza of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Eva and John Fanning of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Jesus Garza of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Dora and Carlos Hernandez of San Antonio; son, Cruz Rodriguez of Lufkin; 43 grandchildren; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Valdez was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Remigio Valdez; son, Roberto Rodriguez; daughter, Guadalupe Rivas; and grandchildren, Joseph Herrera and Jose Victor Rivas.
Pallbearers will be Geneva Fanning, Juan Hernandez, Cruz Rodriguez, Carlos Garza, Johnny Tovar, and Rolando Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin.
